Superbowl Sunday with the Hunts

So last night was the Superbowl and we all gathered at my brother Dave's house. We usually have dinner at my mom's on Sunday but she is out of town and we thought it would still be fun to get together. Amanda went all out with food too. She filled us up on spring rolls and jalapeno poppers and the like before bringing out the pizza. I think they had fun shopping for food at Costco. Dave has a pretty sweet set up in his basement too. Since he has a PVR he paused the game and we watched a taped episode of Father of the Pride before starting the game. It was nice because when we finally started to watch the game we skipped past the boring stuff like the national anthem. We had caught up by half time though.

Veronica and Cache were sure wired though. Cache kept running around looking for toys. He saw Bailey's toys and knew instantly they were the puppies toys. He tried to get in to absolutely everything. He kept asking for hot wheels all night too, "can I play with hot wheels". He still never had it set in that Dave doesn't have hot wheels. So funny. I swear that kid was wired on something and he never sat still, even when eating his pizza. The good thing was that he didn't go near the fire. Dave has a fireplace and it's actually a wood burning stove and it gets burning hot. Since Cache grabbed Karen's hot straightener once and burned his poor fingers he's afraid of anything hot and wouldn't even get close to it. Heck, when I went to wash his fingers once he was freaking out when I tried to stick his hands in the sink under the water because it was "hot" even when it was FREEZING. What a goof.

Veronica wouldn't leave Amanda alone. They were bonding. She kept following Amanda upstairs and helping her with the food and talking with her. Now Amanda and Dave are getting married in May, and Veronica saw Amanda's stuff around Dave's house and asked if she has sleepovers, Amanda said yes sometimes. Veronica said that's ok, you're going to be part of our family soon. Then she saw the coffee maker on the counter and asked if it was a coffee maker and if Amanda drinks coffee. That girl notices everything, especially if it's something she's been taught we don't do as members of the church. I don't know if she gets that Amanda isn't a member of our church and that Dave hasn't gone to church in years. Part of the reason she might not notice is that they act and behave and don't do anything out of church standards when they're with us. They're very good and respectful about that, as we are about them and how they choose to live. They're family and you just love them for who they are.

Around half-time Diana and her dog showed up (her husband was working). Well Jax was sniffing around and all of a sudden we heard Bailey barking and freaking out. Normally she's afraid of Jax cause he's so big but he had gotten a little too close to her "boyfriend" and that is just something you don't do. Diana kept him on a tight leash after he sniffed around enough and started to get into the food. The best part was near the end of the evening Bailey had some fun the the "boyfriend". The funniest thing I've ever seen.

All in all I have to say, in spite of the fact I'm not a football fan it was a fun evening. We always have fun when we get together and there are always stories to tell. Definitely some of the best times had are with those crazy kooks.
